This blog came together from my own personal experiences for better or for worse. What started out as just entering a 5k at the age of 30 to relive my youth as a cross country runner, has since blossomed into more than just a hobby. Last year I set a goal of running 500 miles and by October I had crushed it and had to look at setting new goals. My goal with this blog is to bring thousands of others along for the journey and to help you not only improve your physical health, but also your mental health and confidence. Through articles, photos, and word of mouth, my hope is to show thousands of others how joyful and impactful running can be. My name is Russ Burke. And I hope you come along for the journey.
As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community. If you're just lacing on the running shoes for the first time or an experienced runner doing multiple 5ks per month, my hope is that the articles here provide at least some advice and tips that you can take with you on the runway.
Thank you so much for being part of this community. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved. Please feel free to connect with us on any of our social media pages. We are on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter at The Active Runner.
